Fifteen Boys, One Journey

Boys soccer players ready to play for the national championships

They’ve come together from different backgrounds, different clubs, and different cities, but together they share a singular goal – to win a national championship. This Wednesday Oct. 5th the fifteen boys of Fraser Valley Premier U14 will take the final steps towards their goal, and today we want to celebrate all the boys have achieved so far.

The Team

Fraser Valley Premier is one of the eight clubs in the BC Soccer Premier League, the highest level of competitive kids soccer in the province. Our U14 Boys team is comprised of fifteen outstanding players:

  • Max Barker, Midfielder
  • Brandon Cambridge, Forward
  • Devon Chescoe, Centre-back
  • Marley Edwards, Midfielder
  • Isaac Janzen, Left Back
  • Jehmrode Kahlon, Centre Forward
  • Jasdeep Khakh, Forward
  • Sevak Lehal, Centre-back
  • Tommy Millar, Central Midfielder
  • Nolan Premack, Goalkeeper
  • Karmveer Rai, Right back
  • Cadell Rees, Defensive Midfielder
  • Jaskirat Sidhu, Left Midfielder
  • Jeevan Sidhu, Defensive Midfielder
  • Joel Ward, Right Back

They are supported by our dedicated team personnel:

  • Head Coach Steve Millar
  • Assistant Coach Mike Scheu
  • Manager Lloyd Rees

The boys have trained together, played together, and grown up together, and now they’re travelling together to Moncton.

The Journey

The U14’s road to the national championships has been paved with grit, determination, and sacrifice, both as individuals and as teammates. Their arrival in Moncton is the result of rain soaked training sessions, hard won lessons, the support of family and friends, and the boys’ drive to succeed.

Though the national championships represent the pinnacle of competition for the team, it is not the first time they’ve faced outstanding teams. This group has achieved success at many regional and international tournaments, participating in:

  • The Surf Cup in San Diego CA
  • The Farwest Regional Tournament in Portland OR
  • Anaheim Summer Classic Cup

They have also won close to home, proving themselves winners in multiple competitions, including:

  • BCSPL League Cup (2015 & 2016)
  • BC Provincial Cup (2016)

This team has risen to every challenge thrown their way, and there remains but one large hill to climb.

The Goal

Soccer Canada’s National Championships is the preeminent soccer competition in the country. Our boys will be up against the best teams in Canada, all vying for the prestigious U14 Cup. The other teams include:

Group A

  • Brampton East Blades (ON)
  • Bonivital SC (MB)
  • Eastside FC (SK)
  • FDSA (NB)
  • Yukon Strikers (YU)

Group B

  • Fraser Valley Premier (BC)
  • St. Alberta Impact (AB)
  • Dartmouth FC (NS)
  • St. John’s SC (Nfld)
  • Hillsborough United (PEI)

One of these 10 teams will be crowned Champions of Canada, and it will represent the culmination of hours of hard work. No matter what happens this week we are extremely proud of our Fraser Valley Premier U14 Boys and the dedication they have shown to make it this far. Good luck boys – we’re all behind you on your journey.
